The Concept

Overview

A concept cover for a dessert-forward recipe book, built around warm, appetite-first food photography and a central, hand-illustrated badge mark carrying the title. The brief I set for myself: design a cover that photographs well on a shelf and on a phone screen alike — equal parts cookbook and gift object.

The Approach

Design Thinking

The photography does the selling, so the layout is built to frame it rather than compete with it: a full-bleed spread of desserts top and bottom, with a scalloped circular badge anchoring the centre where type, icon illustration, and the book title all sit together. A simple banner treatment credits the author without disrupting the symmetry of the cover.

Reflection

What I Learned

A cookbook cover has to work as both packaging and photography backdrop — the discipline here was building a layout confident enough to let the food be the star.
